Dr. Ryan’s Approach

A Naturopathic Doctor sees everything in your body as connected and interrelated. Therefore, Dr. Ryan assesses each individual’s health within the context of its whole...not different body parts.

For example, if you have trouble sleeping, she will not only ask about your caffeine intake and how late in the day you exercise, but will also look at your hormones, neurotransmitter levels, food sensitivities, how you handle stress, your diet, and your genetic make-up. Why all the detail? Because these seemingly unrelated factors contribute to your ability to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling rested.

She also sees health issues as being related to how your body responds to stress. Each person responds differently to various forms of stress, both emotional and physical stresses (trauma, infection, or toxins, for example). Dr. Ryan defines stress as anything that challenges your body to respond. We can not live without stress, but it is the amount and types of stress that we are exposed to that determine

our health at any point in time. By supporting your body to recover from stress and to reduce your exposure to stresses such as foods that are stressful to the body or lack of sleep, then Dr. Ryan can guide you to wellness.
